Andrew finds it increasingly apparent that the values of the DIYbio and Biohacker movement BioQuisitive is a part of, can help address the challenges that life sciences in Australia is currently facing. These values such as accessibility, community, world improvement, transparency and inclusiveness, are addressing these challenges from a bottom up, grassroots approach. It draws on the power of the many individuals that participate and become empowered, to then positively affect the lives of those around them. He hopes that BioQuisitive will one day help set a precedent to examine and improve the foundations and paradigms that support our current science ecosystem in order to usher in a new era of innovation and creativity here in Australia.
Aakanksha has a rich experience that extends across industries (live streaming, wearable technology and robotics). She has built new products from the ground up or taken innovative products to market. In the last 7 years she has undertaken wide Business Development roles (including Product Management responsibilities) at Melbourne startups including having founded a company herself.
She brings with her to BioQuisitive the lessons from these dramatically different fields, collaborative leadership and facilitation, lean startup approaches, tech oriented self teaching, and more.

For some time now I have been curious about how we all find and participate in our ‘one big project in life.’ The ‘one big project’ concept links back to one of Toyota’s founders, Kicchiro Toyoda, who challenged his people to consider the progress you are making towards this lofty goal. My perspective on this continually evolves. While driving innovation and culture change with diverse groups in international settings has been exciting, I now see these as pathways towards one’s major project.
